Convert data from project specifications and statements of problems and procedures to create or modify computer programs and reports. The Senior Programmer creates and provides efficient and resourceful technology solutions either by integrating third party applications or by creating new programs in-house, or both. The result of the technology solutions will enable the credit union to meet or exceed various business strategies. All work is expected to be at a Sr Programmer level, which includes a less than 10% error margin.
Convert data from project specifications and statements of problems and procedures to create or modify report generator programs.
I.S. project management, encompassing the illustration of the sequence of steps that programming must follow and describe input, output and logical operations involved in the program.
Confers with manager and representatives of departments concerned with program to resolve questions of program intent, data input, output requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls. Processes modifications as necessary, and documents all work for mapping and cross training purposes.
Reviews system logic for optimum throughput. Work frequently includes program maintenance and error detection/correction of existing codes/languages.
Offer system enhancement recommendations, and participate in development of project schedules with manager/project manager.
Will participate in cross-functional training to ensure back up and support of other job functions within the department as deemed necessary by manager. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Experience: Three to five years of similar or related experience.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.
