Role

Must demonstrate the ability to effectively process, validate, close and fund all direct real estate loans. This associate must demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to
effectively discuss loan contingencies and closing requirements on an independent basis. Must have working knowledge of real estate products and effectiveness in closing loans or identifying
cross-sell opportunities. Must be able to assist members with their real estate lending needs, analyze complex loan requests, and make credit decisions based on lending policy and procedures. This associate must exhibit
flexibility and enthusiasm in adjusting daily work assignments, work schedule and results oriented.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond to member inquiries to determine pre-qualification and/or pre-approvals and 
    complete real estate loan applications for completeness and accuracy received via face-to-face, mail, phone or through the website in an independent and expedient manner. Must be able
    to process and coordinate the closing of loans with members, escrow and title companies independently and in accordance with established procedures.
  • This Associate must be able to consistently assist members and associates in a professional 
    & timely manner. This includes returning all phone calls as described by management, and
    cross-sell other products and services.
  • This Associate must be able to successfully perform multiple tasks and consistently meet all 
    established goals or time lines without assistance.
  • Using good judgment, interview, underwrite, recommend and/or approve all types of complex 
    real estate loans. Identify potential counter-offer loan requests, when appropriate.
  • Coordinates mortgage loan reporting, including HMDA, HOEPA and HPL as well as shipping E to FNMA, Midwest or other designated investor insuring timely purchase of funded loans.
    6% Works with training department in coordinating and conducting training seminars. This includes making branch visits in support of providing exceptional (training) service to all
    frontline personnel.
  • Interacts with Information Services Department on loan system; Prime Alliance, Encompass and other affiliations, ensuring proper underwriting, reporting and regulatory compliance meet established guidelines.
  • Prepare and submit wire requests to Manager for approval. 
  • Performs other duties as may be deemed necessary for the effective and efficient function 
    of the Department or Credit Union, or as assigned by management.

Knowledge and Skills

Experience:

 

This is an entry-level position. A typical background for obtaining the requisite knowledge, abilities and experience is five years to ten years of related or credit union operations experience along with the required education.

Education:

 

A high school diploma minimum, a college degree desired, or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school.

Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and
tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or
sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become
important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals)
becomes necessary.

8) Knowledgeable in consumer and real estate regulatory compliance regulations.
9) Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
10) Must have working knowledge of Southland’s Automated Loan Decision System and
Encompass Loan Processing system.
11) Must exhibit good leadership and consistent member service skills.
12) Must have a thorough knowledge of pricing in regard to discount points, LLP
Adjustments.
